About PhysicsBowl

The PhysicsBowl is an annual competition coordinated by the AAPT (American Association of Physics Teachers). Roughly 10,000 students worldwide participate each year. Students answer 40 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes. Division I covers first-year physics (Q1–40) and Division II covers second-year physics (Q11–50), sharing questions 11–40 in common.

Division I
Q1–40 · First-year students
Division II
Q11–50 · Second-year students
Overlap
Q11–40 shared by both divisions
⚠️ Note: Official past exam PDFs are distributed only through AAPT-registered schools. The problems below are educator-reconstructed representatives of each year's topic emphasis and difficulty profile.
